We’ve had a lovely stay in this super house! Perfect weather, pool, playroom for the kids. All we needed for a perfect holiday!

Nous avons passé un superbe séjour dans votre maison. Très agréable piscine, un très joli village très calme, à proximité des plages.
Les activités aux alentours sont très sympas – comme O’Gliss Park et O’Fun Park, karting.

Thank you very much for a lovely holiday. Lapwing House is a great base. The games room is a great plus!! Annette has been very helpful - even booked an appointment at the vet in Luçon for our dog, Rosie.
We found Amourettes Beach to the south of La Faute sur Mer is great for families with dogs. Just don't walk too far south (Nudists beach!!)
We had a great meal at Le Blue Mob in La Tranche sur Mer. The staff spoke great english and the food was excellent.
Il de Ré is lovely and well worth a visit. The circular cycle/walking route nearby (map across the road) is good for dog walk/quick cycle. The gardens in the centre of Luçon are beautiful.

Overall we had a great stay at Lapwing House, enjoying the pool and games room in particular and we could spend hours playing and relaxing in the garden. Thanks so much!

We've had a great two weeks at Lapwing House. The house is spacious and well equipped and the kids have enjoyed the pool, garden and the games (as have the Dads!) We've picked fresh apples, plums, grapes and many many figs each day. Recommendations for trips out:
- Château des Aventuriers - excellent pirate treasure hunt in lovely grounds.
- Parc de Pierre Brune - very reasonably priced play park with many slides, inflatables, trampolines and fairground rides.
- Indian Forest - we just went in the 'Fun Zone' as our kids are quite young and this was good fun (take swimming things as the inflatable slides have water sprays) but the rope courses and water slides were great to watch.
- La Tranche sur Mer beach - stays shallow for a very long way out so great for kids.

This house has been a wonderful base for our holiday in the Vendée. We have thoroughly enjoyed such a spacious home with fantastic garden. We’ve fed the hedgehogs bread and jam each evening - 2 or 3 came out including a baby one!
Yesterday we enjoyed a terrific concert at Luçon cathedral - which was free! The park/gardens in Luçon are lovely. Just the other side of St Denis is a bird hide with 2 volunteers that speak perfect English and know the names of birds I’d never even heard of - closes at 12.30 ’till 3 though, but well worth a visit.
The highlight of our week was hiring bikes on the Ile de Ré and cycling on open tracks through stunning villages, and having a beautiful meal in St Martin.
We enjoyed the market in Aiguillon on Tuesday morning & tried some beaches - La Faute sur Mer is great and is the closest.
Oh - we also really enjoyed the supermarket in Luçon - Intermarché. Not too big and fascinating deli! (How sad are we!). Bakery in La Bretonniere excellent - closed on Tuesday. We never saw the bakers van.

Thank you for the use of your beautiful holiday home, it’s been all we expected and more. The boys have loved the pool, table tennis and air hockey. We have found everything we needed including good sharp knives and a compost heap (unusual in holiday homes we’ve visited!) Thank you.
We would echo the highlights of many others. Puy du Fou is amazing - you need an early start to get a full day as there’s so much to see. Beach at La Faute sur Mer (Plage de Barrique) fabulous forest, dunes and huge waves and wind. Visits to lots of markets (Aiguillon was great for food). La Rochelle is a lovely place to visit, lots of restaurants with views of the boats.
For any runners or wildlife watchers we had a lovely run from Lapwing House to the Communal bird hide and back. Look for yellow signs to ‘communal marais’. We saw coypu, kingfisher (close-up), stilts, egrets, waders and harriers (and of course lapwings!)
We didn’t see the bakers van! However we weren’t really looking & we tried lots of local bakeries & supermarkets.
A wonderful holiday & wishing we could stay longer.

We’ve had a great week in this lovely, spacious house! The children have enjoyed the pool & table tennis and watching some of the olympics in the evenings.
We really enjoyed Les Conches beach (just past La Tranche sur Mer). Park in the car park or nearby pine forest and walk to the beach. Toilets & café for ice creams. Also La Griere beach just before La Tranche, but no loos on beach.
Had a superb meal at La Viviere Pizzeria in Mareuil-sur-Lay (just not of Lairoux). Opens around 7pm & very friendly. A visit to La Rochelle is well worth it and also the Ile de Ré - beautiful island - sandy beaches to south & picturesque St Martins (just like Cornwall - narrow cobbled streets and shops), to the north.
Good market at Aiguillon sur Mer (Friday) - clothes , leather, crafts & food.
